Toasted Oak dominoes, long grain American oak. These are a top of the line product used for ageing spirits or imparting oak flavours to beer or wine. They carry none of the harsh tannins that are introduced with end grain chips or chunks.

These wood pieces medium roasted transform spirits from ordinary home brew to export quality.
I use these for brandy and rum. If you want a quick result then use French oak, that only takes about a month for an acceptable result. American oak takes a fair bit longer, at least 8 months. If you try it after a month it is over the top with woody vanilla notes, typical of the over wordy American. After 8 months it changes to a lovely full bodied flavour that beats anything you can buy for under $200.
The qHADity of these dominos is really very good - giving a better flavour than any HBS chip, and, at a smaller price. That (for me) is about as good as any product can get! (So good, in fact, that I had to buy a bag for a mate after he tasted the results of a batch I had!)
Delivery times are also good - I am always surprised to see a company deliver promptly AFTER they get your money... And as far as these dominos go, I have always been happy with how quickly they get to my door.
If I HAD to offer a downside, it would be this: the delivery bag is 5 kg total weight, including the bag, so, about 200g has to come out of the dominos so it makes the weight... Not really a problem, as 5 kg will do about 500 ltrs of spirit, but I'm trying to be balanced.
Forget used barrel chips or chunks they are shit compared to the medium toasted dominoes.
I have used both and will never go back to the secondhand overpriced crap that HBS sell as gold standard.
